3 REASONS TO CELEBRATE
- The 15th Birthday of Maria McClellan
- The Birthday of Mary Smith, founder of The Carol Ann Foundation
- The development of a Morquio drug therapy by Dr. Shunji Tomatsu
Join us for a fundraiser for Morquio Research Sunday afternoon May 28th 2006 at 1:00 At the Chinatown Y on Houston St. and the Bowery, New York City.
Maria as well as the daughter of Mary Smith, Carol Ann, suffer from the rare progressive disease called Morquio Syndrome. Severe skeletal deformation as well as corneal clouding, difficulty ambulating and hearing loss are among its symptoms. Dr. Shunji Tomatsu, pediatrician and researcher from St.Louis University has been studying Morquio Syndrome for over 20 years. He has developed an enzyme replacement therapy and is now, with the collaboration of Inotech Pharmaceutical of Switzerland, preparing to bring the drug to trials. The Morquio community is overwhelmed at the exciting news of a drug that promises to bring substantial relief to sufferers.
The pool will be available for swimming. Bring your suit!
In lieu of presents a donation for Morquio research would be appreciated. Donation checks may be written to: The Carol Ann Foundation
