We are in need of funding for Morquio Type A research. Dr. Shunji Tomatsu, Associate Professor at The St. Louis University, MO is the Biochemist & Molecular Biologist researching Morquio Type A. He has been taking care of many children with rare diseases as well as Morquio patients in Japan, as a pediatrician, for well over 15 years. We are very thankful to Dr. Tomatsu as our chief scientific medical advisor for his dedication to a treatment for this rare disease. WHAT IS MORQUIO TYPE A

Morquio Type A, also known as Morquio Syndrome or MPS IVA, is one of the Mucopolysacchride Disorders. Morquio is a progressive disorder arresting growth and causing severe bone disease in young children. While there is no known cure, it is every parents dream to see Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT) treatment become a reality for all the children living in pain daily.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Carol Ann Foundation & International Morquio Organization is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to seeking out people who have Morquio Type A in order to provide a mutual aid network; act as an advocate between patients, physicians and scientists; compile medical information into a database; and pursue funding for education, families and research.
